1. MY AIM IN LIFE
Introduction : Every man has an aim in life. A man without an aim is like a ship without a rudder. A man cannot succeed in life without it. A fixed aim helps a man to succeed in life.
My aim in life : Different men have different aims in life. Some want to be high officials or scholars or poets etc. Someone wants to be a doctor or an engineer or a teacher. I am a student of class X. I have a definite aim of my life. The aim of my life is to become a doctor and serve the poor villagers. My father who is a doctor always inspires me to be a doctor like him.
Reasons of my choice : The reason of my so choice is that most of the people of our village are poor and illiterate. Good doctors are not available in the villages. So the villagers do not get help and advice of a good doctor. They suffer from many diseases and often die a premature death. By observing their miseries, my heart is filled with profound grief. I want to serve them by providing them proper treatment. Therefore, I have decided to be a doctor.
My preparation and promise : After passing the S.S.C examination I shall get myself admitted into Adhyapak Abdul Majid College. After I have passed the H.S.C examination, I shall get myself admitted into a Medical College for M.B.B.S. After completing M.B.B.S, I shall come back to my village and serve the villagers. I shall take no fee from the poor. If I can earn enough money, I shall set up a charitable dispensary in my village.
Conclusion : Success in life depends largely upon the right choice of profession. So at the time of making such a choice we should think about our liking and abilities and also the urge to do something for the humanity.
2. Newspaper/The Importance of Reading Newspaper
A paper that carries news is called a newspaper. It is indispensable from our modern life. We cannot do without it. It brings the whole world to our home. In other words, it is a mirror of the world. It is like a store-house of knowledge. The newspaper has a long history. The first newspaper was published in China. Thus China became a history in the publication of newspapers. In the continent of Europe, the first newspaper was published from Venice. In the Indian sub-continent, 'The Indian Gazette' was the first newspaper. The 'Samachar Darpan' was our first Bengali newspaper. There are many kinds of newspapers. They are the dailies, the weeklies, the monthlies and so on. In Bangladesh, 'The Daily Observer', 'The Daily Independent', 'The New Nation', 'The Ittefaq', 'The Amar Desh', 'The Prothom Alo' etc. are very popular newspapers. Newspaper reflects the whole world. We get all types of news and views in it. The sports-loving people get the news of sports in the newspaper. The news of political and economic condition is available in it. We also get the news of jobs and marriages from the newspaper. Newspaper publishes poems, prose, novels, stories etc. A newspaper is a great source of entertainment. It flashes news on new musical albums, films, TV dramas etc. It also publishes TV guide. Thus it helps TV viewers to know times of different programmes. It acts as a source of public opinion. A person expresses their opinions in it. We get articles of intellectuals, philosopher, politicians and free thinkers. Thus it is a great treasure for us. A newspaper is very useful for a student. It helps to widen his horizon of knowledge. Quibbles, cross word puzzles, time and date of examinations are published in it. It also contains answers of various questions. It publishes supplements on the occasions of national and international issues. The President, the Prime minister, ministers and high officials give their statements in it. It plays an important role in forming any opinion in emergency. It discloses corruption, bribery, irregularities of high officials. It advises the government in various times. It encourages us to stand together in times of disasters. It is not above demerits. Sometimes it publishes false and fabricated news. As a result, misunderstanding is formed among people. Such news leads a country to anarchy. Besides, many newspapers blindly support their chosen political parties. A newspaper is a complete picture of the world. It contains the current happenings. It widens our outlook. We cannot do without it. So, everyone should form the habit of reading newspaper.
