COVID stands for Coronavirus Disease. It is termed as coronavirus or COVID-19 since it first infected humans in 2019. Coronavirus primarily spreads through physical contact and respiratory droplets. People with COVID - 19 may have a wide range of symptoms . These may appear in two to fourteen days after the exposure to the virus . The common signs include fever , dry cough , tiredness , loss of taste or smell , muscle aches , headache , sore throat , runny nose , vomiting , diarrhoea , etc. Some people may experience worsened symptoms like acute shortness of breath and pneumonia . Older people and those with underlying medical problems such as heart disease , diabetes , chronic respiratory disease and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness . Scientists around the world have invented a number of vaccines in order to boost up our immune system for fighting coronavirus . Some of them are AstraZeneca , Pfizer , Moderna , Sinopharm , Sinovac , Sputnik V , etc. Though Bangladesh has invented a vaccine named Bangavax , it is yet to be applied on human bodies . Besides , Molnupiravir , the first oral medicine for COVID - 19 , is now available in our country . Still , preventive measures are the best ways to stay safe from COVID 19. While going out , we must wear masks to cover our nose and mouth . We should thoroughly and regularly clean our hands with an alcohol - based hand rub or wash them with soap and water . We should avoid touching face , nose and eyes as virus can enter our body through them . Moreover , while sneezing or coughing , we should cover our face and nose with a tissue or by elbow . In addition to that , we should maintain social distance of minimum 3 feet . Anyone with the possible symptoms must be isolated in order to avoid close contact with others . Therefore , staying safe from COVID - 19 mostly depends on personal hygiene.
My Best Friend
I have had many friends in life , many have come and gone , but there is one friend that has remained to me loyal through thick and thin . Her name is Popy . I met her during orientation and her personality instantly struck me . After orientation , surprising enough , I was allocated not only the same hostel as Popy but also the same room . Then our beautiful friendship began . The more time we spent together the more our friendship grew . She gradually took the position of my best friend . We sometimes argue and disagree about some things but we always find a solution . One thing that I like about Popy is that she is flexible and she is always new and open to new ideas . Popy understands me and she can tell when I am happy or sad . No friend but she knows how to read my moods and always does her best to cheer me up . This is why I like her more than other friends . The Padma Multipurpose Bridge
The Padma Multipurpose Bridge is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across the Padma River. Bangladesh is constructing the bridge with its own resources. It connects Louhajong, Munshiganj to Shariatpur and Madaripur. Thus, it will link the south-west of the country to northern and eastern regions. Once completed, it will connect 21 southern districts with the capital. The bridge is a two-level steel truss bridge that carries a four-lane highway on the upper level and a single-track railway on the lower level. Having 41 spans, each 150 m long and 204 steel les and 32 vertical bored concrete piles, the bridge is 6.15 km long and 18.18m wide. The rail viaduct has 14 spans of 332 m connecting Mawa end to Jajira end. Apart from transportation , there are other utilities like gas transmission line , optical fiber and telephone line and high voltage electric line through the bridge. The bridge is being constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Company Limited. Starting on 7 December 2014, the construction is expected to end in the mid of 2022, though this mega project was initially expected to be completed by the end of 2019. The project has taken 1062 hectares of land. Padma Bridge is the most expensive project in the history of Bangladesh. However, the estimated preliminary cost was BDT 91.72 million, but it is now estimated around BDT 301933.88 million. It will be the sixth largest bridge in the world upon completion. However, the bridge will contribute a lot to the economic development of Bangladesh. increase the GDP by as much as 1.2 percent. Thus, the Padma Multipurpose Bridge will be a huge milestone in the construction history of Bangladesh.
Dhaka Metro Rail Project
Dhaka Metro Rail is an approved mass rapid transit system under construction in Dhaka . With a view to improving traffic in Dhaka city , its first formal trial ran in Dhaka's Mirpur area on Sunday , August 29 , 2021. In 2012 , the Government's Executive Committee of National Economic Council ( ECNEC ) approved the project . The project is being implemented adhering the Time - bound Action Plan 2030 under Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited ( DMTCL ) . The total length of Mass Rapid Transit or Metro Rail Network is 128.741 kilometers . Out of this total length , 67.569 kilometers will be elevated and 61.172 will be underground . There will be 104 stations . Out of these total stations , 51 will be elevated and 53 will be underground . Dhaka Metro is projected to serve more than 60,000 passengers per hour by 2022 , with wait - times of approximately 4 minutes . People will be able to travel the entire route in less than 40 minutes at a speed of 100 km / h ( 62 mph ) . The system plans to use magnetic contactless Integrated Circuit Ticketing commonly also known as smart cards . Platform screen door ( PSD ) barriers used at the platform level will increase safety and efficiency . The project's mission is to reduce the traffic congestion by providing fast , safe , reliable , air - conditioned , time saving , electricity driven , environment - friendly , remote controlled state - of - the - art public transport system for Dhaka city and its adjoining areas . Therefore , it is expected that the successful completion of the project will drastically reduce the number of private cars on Dhaka's streets as well as their potentially 7 - hour - long standstills .
Gender Discrimination
Gender discrimination means the preference of one sex, especially the male sex, depriving the other sex. It is a violation of women's rights. Gender discrimination begins when a female child is born, and it continues throughout her life. With the birth of a girl, the society imposes on her many illusions about her low status in the society.
